Last Saturday, we had a Moslem’s Talk about Hijab. The discussion was led by sister Marina. She started the discussion by mentioning the Surah about Hijab, which are An Nur 24 and Al Ahzab 56.
There are many different opinion about the Hijab it self from many ulama, about the shapes, colors, how to use, etc. But what all ulama has agreed is that hijab must be not transparant, not tight, and not making a women look like a man.
Hijab, not only in Indonesia, but also all over the world, has became a business market. Businessman make women as one of most targeted market for business, especially in fashion. As we talk about Hijab, in the view of business, there are four types of market for hijab that are Apathies (not really care about Hijab), Rationalist (more stylist in Hijab), Conformist (little bit fanatic), and Universalist (most of women).

These are some comments about Hijab from our discussion:
[Brother Agus]
Hijab is to obey Allah SWT.
HIjab is to keep Izzah (“dignity”) of women
Women in hijab has more value compared to non hijab women
[Sisten Tika]
The word “Khimar” has the same root with “Khomr”, which has meaning to cover.
There are different opinion from many ulama related to the definition of hijab.
[Sister Ria]
Fashion show is one of way to introduce clothes to many people, included to introduce Hijab. But the way it works makes women who walk in the cat walk wearing a “too over” make up and clothes.
[Brother Fahrul]
Fashion show can introduce modest fashion (like HIjab), but most of fashion show only “use” a “perfect” models.
[Sister Desi]
Islam doesn’t kill your characters.
People now use visual media to attract so many people
Fashion show can be used as da’wah to introduce modest fashion.
