Last Saturday, we had MT (Muslim’s Talk) at Muslimah Center, Daarut Tauhid with sister Desi as the facilitators. MT is where we learn English by doing discussion in various themes about Islam. Last Saturday, sister Desi brought a theme about Education System in Indonesia.
Woow! It’s a big big theme! Hehee :)
So, sister Desi started the discussion by telling us, the members, about NAWACITA, a program that was introduced by our new Education Ministry, Mr. Muhadjir Effendy. There are Religious, Nationality, Independence, Mutual Cooperation, and Integrity (Intra - curricular, Co-curricular, Extracurricular).
Then, we came to the questions discussed!
Do you think, what are problems in our education system?
Well, there are lot of problems we face in our educational system.
From all of the members, we mentioned:
Equality of education in Indonesia is still bad, between the city and rural area, west and east of Indonesia.
Infrastructure and technology. We still lack in this matters. Even teachers can not use the technology to support the study processes.
Spending budget no well. We do have lot of budget for education, but we don’t spend it well.
Vicious Circle. It’s a circle where everything is depending on each other. It’s like a student can not go to school because he is poor. He is poor because he can not work. He can not work because he has no skill. He has no skill because he does not have enough education. And repeat!
Limited access to education. It is an expensive access to education nowadays.
Have you ever feel bored in class?
Well, everyone who were in class at school ever feel this kind of situation. We felt bored somehow in the class. The reasons are vary, like unprofessional teachers, not attractive teachers, one direction way of teaching, etc.
Among the Nawacita pilars, which one is the most important one?
We all do agree that Religious is the most important pillars among the Nawacita pillars. Religion covers the other 4 characters.
