Culture and Organization

The topic for last Saturday MT was about Culture and Organization.

Sister Tika led the discussion by giving some questions related to the topic.

1. What is culture?

We all do agree that culture is something that created by human and used time by time repeatedly.

1. What is organization?

This was explained by brother Egi, that organization is when people gathered to reach the same goals. So, there are 3 components of organization, that are people, togetherness and goals.

1. What are culture in organization?

1. Pick one organization, and mention one unique culture in that organization!

[Sister Ria] An organization in her university has a unique activities in every Friday, when the men go to Masjid for Jum’ah pray and the women have a special meeting to discuss all about women.

[Fahrul] He teaches a school for special need students. In his school there’s an interesting activity in every week for students to learn about plantation. It gives the students benefit, where students with autism become more cooperative and better in communication.

[Sister Ikah] Sister Ikah told us about FPI and how they have doing things as we call “jihad”. Not many people understand what “jihad” means, and that’s why many people miss understand about what FPI have done so far.

[Brother Egi] MEC always has this kind of culture where every member try to advance each other, to support other members to learn English.

1. What kind of culture do you want to experience when decide to be in an organization?

Sometimes, we decide to join into an organization, one of the reason is because of the culture it has. Here some comments from brother and sister in MEC about culture they want to have in an organization. Brother Agus wants to have a strong bonding between the member of the organization. He also told us that sense of belong is also important for every member in organization. Along with brother Agus, sister Ria also had almost the same opinion. Friendly and hospitality are the culture she wants to experience in organization. Sister Desi Another opinion from sister Desi that thought team work is very important when we run an organization. Without teamwork, organization is not perfect.
